SLAMP LIGHTING FINISHES & MATERIALS

100% Handmade Italian Lighting

Every lamp is unique and recognizable, thanks to novel technopolymers; noble, unbreakable materials that can be shaped into various decorative forms and combined with others to achieve almost impossible effects. Much like in a haute couture maison, every Slamp lamp undergoes a precise, transformative, creative ritual that metamorphoses a two-dimensional sheet into a three-dimensional shape through cold-cutting and hand-folding.

Going green! The materials used in the manufacturing of Slamp products are completely recyclable and reusable. The process of cold industrial manufacturing, does not emit harmful substances but only water vapor in 20% of cases. Furthermore, the materials subjected to the maximum thermal stresses do not emit toxins. The product can be washed and it is shock resistant, ensuring an excellent longevity. All the raw materials used by Slamp (from tecnopolymers to packing cartons) are used according to the international standards of environmental protection.

LENTIFLEX®

In order to satisfy the need for warm, uniform light when using LED technology, a unique material was created, giving the light sources a fluid effect. Lentiflex® starts with a lenticular material, that, if examined closely, seems to be made up of infinite prisms that capture light and direct it towards a specific point. Slamp works exclusively with technopolymer sheets, that when combined, create a profound depth that transmits the liquidity of a shining waterfall. Lentiflex® ’s Fresnel effect is found in best sellers, including Étoile, Veli Prisma Suspension or Drusa, the last of which undergoes a controlled printing process.

CRISTALFLEX®

As shiny and transparent as crystal, but as light, unbreakable and flexible as a polycarbonate, Cristalflex® gives Slamp’s products the allure and luxury of glass while making the lamp light, easily transported, and easily utilized in both domestic and public contract environments. During the research and development process, the technopolymer was also created with a Fumé effect, giving the transparent material a slight beige-grey tint. Due to these characteristics, Cristalflex® is perfect for lamps with a metallized finish, or printing that highlights the image and maintains its depth, like the decor used in the “The Lighting Archives of Studio Job”collection.

OPALFLEX®

Opalflex® is one of Slamp’s original, recyclable materials, a mixture of technopolymers and glass crystals. While creating this material, close attention was paid to the flexibility, resistance to heat and unbreakability, all values that today make Opalflex® absolutely unique. Modern design often includes plays on light; to achieve these Effects, glass elements, easily assimilated by polycarbonates through manipulation, make the material even more transparent and reflective. The company remains true to the use of its exclusive materials, Developing techniques to colour Opalflex® (through printing or applied pigmentation) over the years to create trendy, cool lamps that do not alter the temperature of their light sources.

GOLDFLEX®

A noble, resistant, and particularly lustrous material: Goldflex® is Slamp’s exclusive technopolymer fit for sought after, luxury products. A prime example is world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid’s Aria Gold. After 12 months of research, Slamp’s research department ideated the metallization process that uses an aluminum bar in a hyperbaric chamber to create the desired effect. Like Slamp’s other singular technopolymers, it is resistant to high temperatures and chromatic alterations, and unlike many other polymers on the market, immune to manipulation during the assembly process.

MORPHING EFFECT

In 2012, Slamp was driven by the desire to offer clients ever-evolving and innovative chromatic effects, and began experimenting with digital printing as a way of creating iridescent finishes on their cornerstone, Lentiflex®. They were inspired by the film world, specifically the c.d., whose morphing effect allows the fluid joining of two images that consequently produce another. The same effect has been created with colour, seamlessly mix 2, 3, or 4 shades until a specific 3D finish has been reached. The depth and soft touch of the shading can be seen in the applique Crocco.

steelFLEX®

The material’s colour reflects its name; Steelflex’s deep silver mirrors and maximizes the strength of any light source. Steelflex® is obtained through the metallization of a technopolymer sheet, making it versatile in its decorative possibilities. It couples well with other, diverse materials, in the case of the Chapeau, handles treatments like Dimple Silver’s cracklè effect, or stands alone, as the Veli Silver and Flora Silver clearly exhibit. In each of the mentioned products, Steelflex® keeps the unique characteristics of being easily manipulated, resistant, reflective, with luxury appeal.

PEWTERFLEX®

Constant research is dedicated to creating finishes that are luxurious and captivating. Slamp’s R&D team continued their study of metallization with Pewterflex®. The pewter-coloured patented technopolymer is created using hyper-barometric vapourization. A bar of aluminum is literally vapourized in a hyper-barometric chamber, where in the absence of oxygen, the positive ions penetrate one side of the sheet, then electro-statically penetrate it permanently. With an additional process, the same effects were obtained while maintaining the transparency of the material, as perfectly exhibited with the Liza Pewter table lamp.

plainflex®

Plainflex® is a patented technopolymer defined by its thickness, lending planarity without compromising the weightlessness and flexibility that Slamp’s materials must have. Plainflex® is made in varying shades, and widely used in products requiring added thickness to resist the effects of gravity, including Faretto Double, or thermoforming, in the case of Cuore.
